Northrim Bank Lecture Series presents Cliff Grohchart1

Thursday Feb 16 at the Glenn Massay Theater

Reception: 6:00pm and Lecture: 7:00pm

Cliff Groh is a lifelong Alaskan who has been a lawyer for more than 20 years and is now a writer and attorney in Anchorage. Groh served as the Special Assistant to the Commissioner of Revenue from 1987 through 1990. In that capacity, he served essentially as the State of Alaska’s tax lobbyist in the successful effort in 1989 to revise the state’s oil taxes in a way that increased revenues from the giant Prudhoe Bay and Kuparuk fields.

The legislation, adopted in 1989 to revise the Economic Limit Factor (ELF), created a regime for oil taxes that lasted until the Alaska Legislature adopted the Petroleum Profits Tax in 2006.  Groh was also the principal legislative staff member working on Permanent Fund Dividend legislation in 1982. That legislation adopted in 1982 produced the per capita Permanent Fund Dividend Alaska has today.

Groh co-authored three chapters for Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend: Examining its Suitability as a Model and authored a chapter for Exporting the Alaska Model: Adapting the Permanent Fund Dividend for Reform around the World. Both books were published in 2012 by Palgrave Macmillan.

Urban Yeti Improv @ Glenn Massay Theater
Feb 18 @ 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Urban Yeti Improv is a masterful improvisational comedy experience. With regularly rotating formats, UYI shows are diverse as they are entertaining. Performances are inspired by an array of sources, and rely heavily on audience participation. Established in 2013, Urban Yeti is proud to be a pioneer in bringing long-form improv to the last frontier!

The combined improv experience of UYI members spans decades. Yeti has travelled all over the country, not only to perform, but to broaden improv understanding through continued education. Past exploits include the Alaska State Improv Festival (Juneau, AK), Del Close Marathon (New York, NY), and Out of Bounds Comedy Festival (Austin, TX). Find the Yeti on Facebook and Twitter to keep up on all the latest.

This show is open to the public with free admission, thanks to a generous grant from The Mat-Su Health Foundation.
