Blackboard is an Internet-based system which facilitates communication between students and Faculty by providing Internet-based access to course materials, class discussions, and quizzes. Blackboard also allows Faculty to create examinations and discussion boards for many different courses. It is often used to teach distance education courses. If you are enrolled in a web-based course, Blackboard is probably the forum in which you will do most of your course work.
