5th Annual Festival: June 5 & 6, 2015

2015 represents a key transition point for the Machetanz Art Festival. Not only will this be the fifth anniversary of the festival, it is also the first time we will have the opportunity to make use of the new Glenn Massay Theater. The theater will offer a new venue for festival events and in the years to come is likely to add a performing arts component to our options for our Alaskan patrons of the arts.

Once again we will have an opportunity to shamelessly exploit a now famous son of the Matanuska-Valley – nationally recognized artist Dean Larson!

Please visit www.matsu.alaska.edu/MAF for more details about this event.

Tolkein’s Road Film Screening @ The Glenn Massay Theater
Jun 7 @ 7:00 PM

An imaginative telling of the journey that lead J.R.R. Tolkien to write his first novel, “The Hobbit.” However, before he can bring the world of Middle-Earth to life he must overcome the trauma of fighting in WWI and find his voice again. Tolkien’s imagination comes to life everywhere he looks in the form of Elves, Orcs and Dragons, but it is when he meets the Hobbit that he is transported on a journey of self discovery which will change him and the world of literature forever.
