Welcome to the third annual Machetanz Arts Festival at the Matanuska-Susitna College. In many ways, a substantial part of this college is a legacy of the Machetanz Family. Our largest building is named after Fred and Sara Machetanz. They left us two hundred forty acres, their library and a scholarship fund. If you walk through the halls of the college you will find that we own three original Fred Machetanz oil paintings. Sara Machetanz was a published writer. Fred Machetanz, the artist, is already a fixture in the history of art. This festival is our endeavor to build on that rich heritage. The festival is meant to be far more than just a commemoration of two people from Palmer who became accomplished in the arts. It is an opportunity to inspire others to explore the arts and perhaps find their own inspiration in the opportunities we offer. Please come and join us, draw a picture, create something and meet great artists.
