Introduction to Yoga

  • Noon – 1:30 pm, Glenn Massay Theater

Are you interested in yoga as an approach to health and wellness, but unsure of how to start, or even what a yoga mat is?  This introductory session will help you become familiar with a few basic yoga poses, plus breathing, relaxation and concentration techniques.

Please wear comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle, an open mind and a smile on your face. Try something new, your body and mind will THANK YOU! Yoga mats will be provided but you may also bring your own.

Instructor: Ailis Vann, Certified Yoga Instructor and owner of Midnight Sun Yoga in Palmer. Ailis states that she teaches yoga because “I love helping people help themselves. I try to create a fun and positive environment for the classes I teach, and my goal is to have students feel better, more relaxed, and at peace when they leave class. Seeing the transformation in students before, during, and after a class makes me happy and satisfied. I believe that if everyone in the world practiced yoga the world would be much more at peace.”

  • Using meditation as a foundation for positive life transformation
  • Questions and answers
  • Resources for future exploration

Instructors: Samantha Berg M.Ac., L.Ac. and Kevin Meddleton, M.Ac., L.Ac. are licensed acupuncturists and the owners of Alaska Center for Acupuncture in downtown Palmer. They have been teaching meditation and holistic health practices to their patients and to the larger Mat-Su community for over 10 years.
