Elementary and Middle School Outreach

I Know I Can Program

I know I Can is a program aimed at 2nd graders and offered with the partnership of Mat-Su College, the University of Alaska, College Savings Plan, and the Alaska Commission on Post-Secondary Education."I Know I Can" is an important tool to encourage children and their families to start thinking about college early in their school careers. The program helps open children's minds to a multitude of options available to them.

Alumni

You can volunteer your time to inspire young minds about the importance of education. You will visit a Mat-Su Borough School District 2nd grade classroom, share their journey with education and choosing a career, then lead a short activity with the students.

Grade School Teachers

Would you like our Alumni to visit your classroom and spark the imagination of your children? We provide an activity that will get them thinking about what they want to be when they grow up and how education can be beneficial to achieving their future goals.

Students finish the program with a visit to Mat-Su College where they meet with students, faculty, and staff; attend mini classes and have lunch.

We are happy to partner with ACPE, the UA CSD, and Nela to bring this program to 5th graders in the Mat-Su Borough School District. Currently, we are doing a two year cycle with the participating grade school to familiarize the teachers and staff with the program. If you are interested in participating, please contact our Admissions Representative at 907-745-9799.
