New Student Orientation (NSO)

Fall 2019 | WEDNESDAY, aUGUST 14 | 1 PM - 4 PM

Beginning college can be both exciting and challenging. New Student Orientation is your introduction to the community at Matanuska-Susitna College! It is a wonderful opportunity to find answers to questions you may have about college, learn strategies for academic success, explore the campus, become familiar with Mat-Su College resources, meet our faculty and staff, and make new friends.

New Student Orientation is designed to help you gain the knowledge, skills and meaningful connections important to successful long-term academic and personal outcomes.

Now that you have chosen to attend Matanuska-Susitna College, what happens next? As a new student, you may be wondering about some of the following:

Do I have the study skills necessary for college?
What is a syllabus?
What university services and processes are available online?
How challenging are the classes?
What technology skills do I need to be successful in college?
How does college differ from high school?
Where can I go for help?
What resources are available to help me pay for school?

How do I join a student club?

All new students are encouraged to attend New Student Orientation as an important first step in a successful academic career. We look forward to helping you transition to life as a college student in any way we can!
