Refrigeration and Heating

Notice:

Mat-Su College has suspended admission of new students to the AAS Refrigeration and Heating Technology program while we develop a new program designed to have students workforce ready within as little as 9 months. We have also suspended admission to the R&H Undergraduate Certificate and the Occupational Endorsement Certificates.  If you are a student admitted to the AAS, Undergraduate Certificate, or an OEC in the Refrigeration and Heating Technology program, please do not worry.  You will be able to complete your degree during the Fall and Spring semesters of the 2020/2021 academic year; we are simply not allowing new students to enter the program.

Students currently enrolled in the AAS should have been contacted by Student Services or an R&H faculty member to develop a completion plan.  If you were not contacted, please call Student Services at 907-745-9762 to schedule an appointment with an advisor.

Information about our new program will be posted here soon.

The Refrigeration and Heating program teaches every aspect of HVAC: heating, refrigeration, applied physics, mathematics, electricity. Students learn technical skills to diagnose and repair commercial and residential heating, refrigeration, air‐conditioning, and ventilation systems.

Develop an ability to understand complex systems through classwork and hands-on experience, including a sheet metal lab and fully functional ammonia refrigeration system. Graduates from the R&H program at MSC have many career opportunities, can specialize in specific areas, and often graduate with a job in hand.
