Campus Posting Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to the Mat-Su College campus.

These guidelines provide members of the Mat-Su College community with the approved protocols for posting on college property. Mat-Su College reserves the right to remove any posting deemed inappropriate or incongruent with the mission and values of the institution. The content of postings will not generally be restricted unless it violates the law, any established UAA rule or procedure, falsely defames an individual or group, constitutes a true threat or harassment, or is in some other manner incompatible with the appropriate functioning of the University.

All posting boards, flyer stands, and sandwich boards on the Mat-Su College campus must comply with the Campus Posting Guidelines. The Marketing and Communications Department allocates use of internal and external posting boards. Requests for new posting boards or changes to existing board assignments should be directed to the Marketing and Communications Department.

Purpose of External Postings, SGC / Club Postings, and Internal Postings

  • External postings (from non–Mat-Su College organizations) must benefit students’ quality of life by providing relevant information about community events, services, resources, or opportunities of interest to students. External postings must be appropriate for a college environment and may not conflict with the mission or values of Mat-Su College.
  • Student Government Council and recognized student club postings should directly benefit students or student’s quality of life.
  • Internal postings from Mat-Su College departments and academic programs must directly benefit students and support the mission, values, and educational goals of Mat-Su College. These postings should provide information related to academics, student services, campus activities, or opportunities that contribute to student success and engagement.

Internal Posting Boards

Departmental / Academic Program Boards

  • Departmental Program Boards are used to display information and events related to the department.
  • Departmental / Academic Program Boards may contain external postings that are related to or supportive of the department.

 Student Activities Boards

  • Student Activities boards are specifically for student events on campus. One half will be monitored by Student Government (for clubs) and the other half by Marketing and Communications (for interdepartmental postings).

Student Engagement Boards

  • Student Engagement boards are assigned specifically to Student Services or other departments as requested and approved by the director. The director in consultation with the department has provided specific guidelines for these boards.

Classroom Posting Boards

  • Classroom boards are limited to OAA exclusively. OAA may turn a posting board over to a specific academic department / program if the room is used only by that academic department / program. The intention of these boards to provide a place for posting information required by OAA that is not otherwise provided by hallway posting boards.

Flyer Stands

  • Flyer stands are reserved for wayfinding directions on the day of an event. Use of flyer stands must be approved by the Director or designee. Flyer stands are stored in the Marketing and Communications office and must be returned within 4 business hours of the event by the sponsoring group.

Sandwich Boards

Only Mat-Su College sandwich boards are approved for use on campus. Placement of sandwich boards may not restrict access to the building or classrooms, offices, or any other space. Placement may not present a hazard for freely moving about on campus.
  • Specific sandwich boards are designated for outdoor use.

  • Campus monitors are controlled by a Student Services designee. To post to the monitors, email a landscape-oriented image/video to the Student Services designee one week before your posting request date. Include a start and end date for the posting.
  • Finals schedules will be posted on the day of finals on both the campus monitors and the student activities boards.

  • There shall be no use of the road sign for religious purposes.
  • There shall be no use of the road sign for partisan political advocacy; the sign may be used to announce political events being held on campus or indicate that Mat-Su College is a designated voting location.
  • College clubs, committees, and other college entities do not get to independently determine road sign content. They may make requests to the Marketing and Communications department, where such requests can be considered and appropriately adapted to a road sign presentation.
  • The road sign is one of the “faces” of the college to the community at large; accordingly, every effort will be made to be conservative and professional in presentation. Crude language or innuendos are never appropriate.
  • The road sign is not for personal use. The road sign is not for publicizing personal birthdays, anniversaries, or other similar occasions.
  • Until otherwise notified, all displays on the road sign must first obtain the approval of the Director or designee. The Director or designee can make exceptions where unusual circumstances warrant.
